Kpando, June 9, GNA - Kpando Hearts of Lions beat Sekondi Hasaacas by a lone goal in the second week novelty Zone B Kinapharma Premier league to join Hearts of Oak at the top on six points on Wednesday.
Samuel Yeboah scored the match winner at the Kpando Sports Stadium on 23rd minute when he hit a low shot from the edge of the penalty 'box' in the far left corner, leaving goalkeeper Michael Addo stranded. Hasaacas played the greater part of the match with 10 men as they conceded their numerical strength through a straight red-card for a vicious tackle on a Lion's attacker.
That, however, did not take any credit away from them as they dominated play after going down and created some decent chances, but they failed to utilise.
On the few occasions that the visitors got to the Lions' goal area, goalkeeper Baba Asampara stood tall with some brilliant saves. Early in the second half, Lions gained a penalty, but goalkeeper Michael Addo blocked Solomon Awuku's low shot.
Thereafter, Hasaacas regained their dominance, stringing accurate passes from the midfield and shuffling up front, but lacked the tenacity to covert them into goals.
Okwawu Beat Bofoakwa
Okwawu United put up a plucky performance to defeat Tano Bofoakwa 1-0 in their Zone A match played at the Mpraeso Park.
Okwawu dominated play at the initial stages of the game when their attacking machinery led by Nasiru Ghani formerly of Accra Hearts of Oak created some panic moments for the visitors.
The soccer mountaineers efforts were rewarded in the 11th minute when Bofoakwa's goalkeeper Ransford Cudjoe failed to make a first time save from Ghani's freekick for Obed Owusu to score from the rebound. Bofoakwa adopted rough tackles after the goal to prevent the slippery Okwawu attackers from increasing the tally.
Okwawu continued to dominate play but failed to utilise three scoring chances in the 25th, 30th and 40th minutes.
Bofoakwa brought on Sam Arthur for Tahiru Abdulai while Okwawu sent in Stephen Opoku and Armarboi Yusif for Bright Kukubo and Obed Owusu in the 54th and 55th minutes respectively but the changes did not alter the scores.
