South-Ghana SDA President warns against political enmity

Gomoa Jukwa (C/R), June 9, GNA - The President of the South- Ghana Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) has called on politicians to adopt a positive attitude to divergent political views, to promote national cohesion.

Pastor S.A. Koranteng said party politics should facilitate socio-economic development and not divide Ghanaians. Pastor Koranteng was speaking at the first Speech and Prize Giving Day of the Gomoa Jukwa SDA Senior Secondary School, near Agona Swedru and inauguration of 330 million cedis block of eight-classrooms and a teacher's bungalow for the school.

He appealed to political activists, chiefs and opinion leaders, to focus on the need for peace and unity to promote the nation's democratic process and ensure smooth and peaceful elections. "We need to guard our actions and words during this year's elections. We are one people seeking only good governance for the development of our nation."

Pastor Koranteng expressed concern about the lack of teachers and the poor furnishing of rural schools and appealed to the Ministry of Education Youth and Sport to reverse the trend.

Pastor Richard Asiedu Ntriakwa, Proprietor of the School, said 20 computers and accessories worth 26.5 million cedis had been procured to expose the students to Information Technology (IT).

He appealed to the Gomoa District Assembly and other relevant agencies to connect the school to the national grid. 09 June 04
