Policemen appeal for rehabilitation of barracks

By GNA

Nkoranza (B/A), June 8, GNA- Police personnel at Nkoranza have called for renovation of the police station and the barracks. The barracks, they said had never been rehabilitated since 1982 and this has made the building to develop a number of cracks. Detective Police Inspector John Abudu told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the station had been sending reports about the bad conditions of the building to the authorities "yet there has not been any positive response".

The GNA interaction with the police followed complaints from the public that a manhole behind the barracks bathroom was creating a nuisance to residents because of its unpleasant scent and breeding of mosquitoes.

Inspector Abudu expressed gratitude to the Nkoranza district branch of the Ghana Road Transport Union (GPRTU) for providing gravels to level the front pavement of the police station. He also commended Mr. Fred Zeini, a businessman at Techiman, who also painted the offices and provided some ceiling fans.
