
Voice of Ghana Radio, a community broadcast radio programme targetted at the Ghanaian community in the Washington Metropolitan area will start test transmission today from 4-7pm.
Intended to re-broadcast news from some radio stations in Ghana as well as provide music and entertainment, it will run daily on 88.5 from 4-7pm Monday to Friday.
A collaboration between the Embassy of Ghana in Washington,DC and Direct Community Broadcasting for Multicultural Radio which is based in Washington,DC, Mr. Ivor Agyeman-Duah, Minister Counselor of Public Affairs at the Embassy says, the programmes will however be available to subscribers on community broadcaster radio receivers for members who can register on www.dcbroadcast.com/radio/ for free radio receivers.
Apart from re-broadcasting political, social and economic programmes as well as promoting the work of musicians and churches from Ghana and in the United States, Mr. Agyeman-Duah said it will also serve as a medium for Ghanaian businesses to advertise.
The test transmission which will run for weeks with re-broadcast of Voice of America service to Africa programmes as well as interviews with leading Ghanaian politicians will be sustained and transit to other bigger things (including extention to other States) depending on interest.
