....Calls For Opposition Unity Mr Dan Lartey, the Presidential Candidate of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) has called for the unity of all opposition political parties as a major step in the effort to defeat the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in this year's elections.

Speaking on an Accra based radio station on Thursday, Mr Lartey said the NPP has failed woefully and it must be shown the exit by December.

“The people are suffering and we have a responsibility to them and the nation to ensure that there is a change of Government,” he said. Mr Lartey said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has a lot of Nkrumaists in its ranks and “it should be possible for all of us to come together.”

“No matter what has happened in the past, we cannot ignore the clarion call for Nkrumaist unity". he added

“We have to come together and it doesn't matter which parties we find ourselves in today” he said.

Asked why he campaigned for President Kufour in the second round of the 2000 presidential election, he said “It is your fault.” “I did not know Mr Kufour. It was you who came to me and said he is a good man and we should work with him. “I listened to you and now you see where you have brought us?” he asked.

Mr Dan Lartey said there is no difference between the philosophy of Domestication and Nkrumaist. “All of them aim at promoting the collective self-reliance of the African people.

“I tell you, domestication has come to stay and everybody is embracing it, he said.

Mr Dan Lartey claimed to be the brain behind General Acheampong's “Operation Feed Yourself” programme and promised that he will re-introduce it if he is given the people's mandate. “Our lands are fertile and we have the brains. There is no reason why we should go hungry in Ghana,” he said.
