NPP would conduct campaign in peaceful manner but....

Winneba (C/R), May 24, GNA - The Central Regional Minister, Mr Isaac Edumadze has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would conduct its electioneering campaign in a peaceful manner, devoid of insults, intimidations and rancour, but would not allow the Party to be cheated during the December elections.

He has, therefore, urged supporters to tolerate the views of the other parties, but in doing so they should not be unconcerned when the Party was being cheated.

Mr Edumadze said this at the inauguration of a 10-member newly elected executives of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) branch of the Tertiary Education Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the NPP at Winneba.

The Minister urged the students to arm themselves with facts and figures about the good work of the Government and to explain them so that they could win more people to join the Party.

He told the people in the Central Region to reject the NDC because it had nothing good for them.

Mr Edumadze said that the NDC was in power for eight years but could not start the construction of the Accra - Yamransa Highway, which was one of the headaches of the people of the Central Region.

The National Youth Secretary of the NPP, Mr Isaac Asiamah, who swore the Executives into office, told them that Party activities at the campuses demanded a lot of commitments and, therefore, urged them to work hard for the party to take the Effutu seat from the NDC.

He said the NPP Government's prudent economic measures had brought many development projects to the rural areas and, therefore, urged Ghanaians to return it to power to enable it to continue its good work. The District Chief Executive for Awutu-Effutu-Senya, Captain Steve Armah (rtd) said the Government had within its few years in office provided so many social amenities to improve the lot of the people and, therefore, appealed to them to retain it in power.

The in-coming Chairman of the UEW branch of TESCON, Mr Louis Ayieb appealed to supporters of the NPP at the University to bury whatever happened during their campaign and support the executives to perform their duties.

Other members were Mr Samuel Acheampong, Vice-Chairman; Prince Armah, Secretary; Fredrick Nihenang, Vice-Secretary; Janes Teye Doku, Financial Secretary; Mark Ansah, Organiser and Miss Gifty Mensah Women's Organiser.

The rest were Veronica Kluyibor, Treasurer; Charles Batsa, Public Relation Officer and George Tetteh, Trustee. 24 May 04
