Heart of Lions host Lone Stars

Accra, May 24, GNA - Kpando Heart of Lions will play host to the Lone Stars, the senior national team of Liberia in a friendly match at the Kpando Sports Stadium tomorrow, Tuesday, May 25.

Mr Victor Ahiakpor, Chief Executive of Lions told the GNA Sports that the match which is at the instance of the Liberians would serve as a dress rehearsal for both sides ahead of pending important assignments. He said the Liberians want to use the match as a warm up tie preparatory to their World Cup qualifier against Mali on June 6, while the Lions need the match to tune up for the novelty premier league, which kicked off yesterday.

The chief executive said the management of the Lone Stars has promised to use the full squad including several Europe based professionals to test their match fitness and forge a team cohesion that would ensure they triumph in Mali.

Consequently, James Debbah, Oliver Makor, Prince Daye, Jimmy Dixon, Dioh Williams and goalkeeper Sunday Sieh are expected to line up for the Lone Stars.

Mr Ahiakpor said the new look Lions team consists of young boys who are hungry for success and are anxious to make positive marks during the new season.

He said their new brand of football is as attractive as it is result oriented and called on soccer fans to troop to the Kpando Sports Stadium tomorrow to watch the match.
