The Kwahu citizens in Switzerland on the 8th of May in Zürich, introduced their newly formed association, Okwahuman Association, Switzerland, to the general public in a grand style which took the form of a funfare.
The occassion attracted the entire Kwahu citizens from the various Cantons in Switzerland and also the general public, mostly Ghanaians living in Switzerland.
The association has been formed to bring Kwahus in Switzerland together and to pull resources to help in developmental efforts in the Kwahu traditional area.
In his speech, Mr. Kwame Amo, a founding member of the association, stressed that, their main focus will be in the area of Health and education. In the area of health, he said they plan to contribute towards the Okwahuman Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS) to bring health care delivery to the door steps of the people in the traditional area, and also help the Kwahu general hospital, Atibie and the Holy Family Hospital, Nkawkaw with supplies and equipments.
He also said the association will take the initiative to establish an educational fund which will cater for the brilliant but needy pupils and students from the traditional area.
The 3rd of July has been set as the date to elect the executives of the association. It will also be held in Zurich.
