Sekondi, May 20, GNA- A Sekondi Circuit Court on Thursday sentenced the founder and leader of Rapture Hour International Church to a fine of eight million cedis for fraud.
Pastor Peter Kwasi Asare, 56, who pleaded guilty would serve four years in prison in default.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Alex Cosmos told the court that in July 2003, the complainant, Madam Margaret Sackey, a trader approached the accused who owns a chamber and hall for hiring.
He said Pastor Asare then collected three million cedis from the complainant and pledged to give her the room. The prosecutor said the accused left Takoradi for Accra without giving the house to the victim.
Inspector Cosmos said unknown to the complainant, Pastor Asare had collected two million cedis from another person and given out the rooms to him.
He said when attempts by the complainant to collect her money proved futile she reported the matter to the Police. 20 May 04
