Farmer jailed for defiling an imbecile

GNA

Asamankese (E/R), May 14, GNA- A 34-year-old farmer, Kwaku Arhin, who defiled a 15-year-old imbecile, was on last Monday sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment in hard labour by the Asamankese Circuit Court. Arhin pleaded guilty.

Police Chief Inspector G.D. Bruce, told the court presided over by Mr S.S. Appiah that on May 1, this year, Arhin met the girl alone in her house and invited her to his house for some oranges. When she got there, Arhin took her into his room and forcibly had sex with her and warned her not to disclose it to anybody or he would beat her, the prosecution said.

He said the girl did not tell anyone until sometime later she started bleeding profusely and when her mother questioned her, she narrated the incident and Arhin was arrested. Passing sentence, Mr Appiah described Arhin as a "wicked person" who took advantage of the girl's sickness to sexually assault her.
