School authorities advised to reward diligent staff

Agona Nsaba (C/R), May 14, GNA - Mr Sam Kwamina-Ansa, Headmaster of the Nsaba Presbyterian Secondary School, has underscored the need for managements of educational institutions to reward hardworking members of staff, to enable them give off their best. The rewards, which should be in the form of incentives, would boost the morale of the tutors, so that they can bring out the best in them, he said.

Mr Kwamina-Ansa made the call after conducting the Ghana News Agency round the school to inspect current projects being initiated by the authorities to improve the school's infrastructure. He enumerated some of the projects as the re-roofing of the school's dining hall, the girls' dormitory and the library. The headmaster said rehabilitation works had also been carried out on the science laboratory, the administration block and the masters' flats.

Other projects, he said, had been the provision of 25 computers for the school's computer laboratory, the painting of the walls of the school blocks, the purchase of a Nissan bus, a photocopier and a communication centre. While noting that education was the key to development and that effective teaching in educational institutions would bring about academic excellence, the headmaster urged stakeholders to ensure that the tenets of education were planted in students.

Mr Kwamina-Ansa, who had rendered 31 years of dedicated and meritorious service to the Ghana Education Service, deplored the situation whereby students who cheated during examinations, normally came out with spectacular performances. He advised students to sit down and do serious academic work in order to excel in examinations. The headmaster who had been in the school for three years, commended both tutors and students for being punctual at classes and expressed the hope that would go a long way to enhance effective teaching and learning.

Mr Vincent Arhin-Hayford, Assistant Headmaster of the school in charge of Administration reminded students they could grow up to offer assertive-oriented leadership towards the nation's development, progress and prosperity if only they subjected themselves to proper training while at school. Mr Arhin-Hayford assured the students that the school authorities would do everything possible to mould their lives so that they could grow into responsible adults.
