The World Cup Fever.

Feature Article The World Cup Fever.
JUN 20, 2014 LISTEN

Dear Readers; kindly bear with me for not revealing this prophecy on time as I was preoccupied with other activities. Moreso, I thought things might go underway and my prophecy would have been treated none but trivial. Instead, I have realized how my prophecy could have changed lives and made things go more apparently well in this world cup season.

Barely two months ago my instinct spoke to me concerning this world cup. It told me of one important and synonymous expectation, which is; Misconduct/Ectasy. Misconduct is a legal term meaning a wrongful, improper or unlawful conduct motivated by premeditated or intensional purpose or by obstinate indifference to the consequences of one's act. Whereas Ectasy is a state of emotion so intensed that, one is carried beyond rational thought and self-control. These associates are likely to be dominant in this world cup season. One would be wondering how these two have got acquaintance with football; follow critically and find out.

One clear symptom of misconduct during this world cup is street mobbing and or road-blocking by football lovers. People forming these mobs are usually persons attracted by television sets placed by the roadsides for public viewing. The world has grown to a stage further where an out-moded medium like this be done away with. The earlier days saw this; due to a limited number of televisions and acess to electricity. That was when people paraded behind neighbour's windows, stand by streetsides to watch tv programs. Today, television sets have become a dime, a dozen that every household have acess to. Therefore, it's very uncivilized for football fans to parade in the streets watching football matches.

Furthermore, springing up of betting companies such as; Premier, Super, Euro, My and co. have come to add fuel to the fire. For sometime now, these betting enterprises mount large screened tv sets to show games to their customers. Not only for the punters but the public at large. This makes countless stationery persons in the street. Especially in tough matches the crowd gets bigger and claim portions of the streets making it very difficult for vehicles to ply the road. This creates unnessary motor-traffic. The supporters sometimes totally block the road during jubilations of win on their side. Other times, they get wild and hit with their hands the sides and tops of vehicles that passes by.

Some drivers also resort to blowing their car horns; causing noise pollution, speeding and even chasing people with their cars during the celebration of wins. Many in the trance of jubilation cause damage or even harass others.

My fervent hope is that, everyone be of good conduct, stay in his/her home to watch the matches as the betting companies make better and comfortable showrooms.

Merci Beaucoup.
Felix Acquaye.
