Kwesi Appiah went into Monday night's game against South Korea without victory against any Asian opposition since taking charge in April 2012 but hammered the Koreans 4-0 to end the trend.

The 1-0 defeats to Montenegro and Netherlands left the Ghana coach with no victories outside of the African continent and his inability to negotiate victory against two other Asian sides created more rooms for concern.

Kwesi Appiah held Turkey in a 2-2 draw in Istanbul last August and also shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with China.

However on Monday night, an impressive Ghana side guided by the tactician saw the Black Stars racked in four goals against the Asians.

Substitute Jordan Ayew grabbed a hat-trick to stake his claim for a starting place in a convincing 4-0 win over a sloppy South Korea side in their final World Cup warmup on Monday.

World Cup quarter-finalists in 2010, Ghana scored twice in the first half through Ayew and Asamoah Gyan before the former grabbed two more in the second half for the Black Stars.

Appiah will seek to perpetuate Monday night's fine show with victory over the United States in the Group G opener next Monday in Natal.

Kwesi Appiah's record against European and Asian opponents.

China PR 1 – 1 Ghana
Turkey 2 – 2 Ghana
Montenegro 1 – 0 Ghana
Netherlands 1 – 0 Ghana
Ghana 4-0 South Korea
