Since the NPP assumed power in 2001, several forensic audits have been conducted. Some of the audits have been conducted on organizations like Min. of Finance, GWSC, NVTI to name a few. In all, 40 something audits have been performed, and all of them have been handled by Baffour Awuah and Associates. Baffour Awuah and Associates is a small company owned by Mr. Philip Baffour-Awuah, the direct cousin of President John Agyekum Kuffour. Mr. Phillip Baffour-Awuah lived in the USA for a long period before returning to Ghana in the middle of the nineties. Until the year 2001, Baffour Awuah & associates hardly performed any meaningful accounting/audit function in Ghana. None of the big name audit firms recognized this firm yet since 2001, the firm has been charged with conducting all the forensic audits that have been called by the NPP admin. I would like to know if the firm is the most competent in Ghana for conducting forensic audits among Price Waterhouse, Deloitte and Touche, Authur Andersen and the others that exist in Ghana today or is it another one of the nepotistic acts of the Kuffour family.
