The Greater Accra Regional Health Directorate of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has alerted the public over the possibility of cholera outbreak and other infectious diseases with the onset of the rains and poor sanitary conditions.

A release signed by the Regional Director of Health Services, Dr Linda Van-Otoo, asked the public to adhere to prevention measures to prevent the occurrence.

'Wash your hands with soap under running water before eating, preparing food and after visiting the toilet,' the release directed.

It further called on people to eat food while it's hot and avoid buying and eating foods exposed to dust and file, wash all plates and fruit and vegetables before eating and using them.

The public was also charged to keep the environment clean by using the right toilet facilities and keeping uncollected rubbish covered.

'In case of diarrhoea and vomiting, start taking ORS/ coconut water and report immediately to the nearest health facility,' it indicated.
