Accra, May 30, GNA - The mortal remains of Kofi Ansah, the renowned Ghanaian fashion designer, were on Friday laid to rest after a short burial service at the forecourt of the State House.
The solemn ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including politicians, actors, chiefs, models, as well as colleague fashion designers.
Tributes read by family, friends and colleagues, described the late Ansah as a friend, brother and an incomparable star whose life changed the lives of many.
'You are a mentor who shared your talent with many, you were the appetite of up and coming designers.
'We remember you as a mentor, brother, husband, son and a friend,' Mr Ryan Ansah, son of the late fashion designer, stated as he idolized him.
"In a world of beta males, my father Kofi was the epitome of an Alpha - a true lion. The most hardworking, passionate man I have ever known. His strength, intelligence, ambition and sense of responsibility, are all attributes I will continue to aspire to," he added.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Abusua Panyin, Paa Kwesi Yankey, disclosed that the body of Mr Ansah was going to be escorted by close family members for cremation at Lashibi.
He said the ashes would be sent to Senya Bereku on Saturday for another funeral rites. 'However, there would be no thanks-giving service for Kofi,' he stated.
A catwalk was held in honour of Mr Ansah as part of activities marking the funeral rites.
Until his death, Ansah was the owner of Artdress, a design and creative concept company through which he developed the art of clothing design, concept collections, and consultancy to develop products and company promotions, and the marketing of their products through fashion shows.
Mr Ansah died on Saturday, May 3, at the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital at the age of 62 years, and left behind a wife and three children.
