Fisher wins May Day Golf

Accra, May 1, GNA - Geoff Fisher, former Captain of the Achimota Golf Club on Saturday, became the proud winner of the 10th annual May Day Price Open Golf Championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra.

Fisher beat Karl Max Brew-Aidoo on count-back after they had both returned 69 net, to emerge champion of the competition, which was played in memory of Mr Michael Price, former member of the Achimota Golf Club who died some 11 years ago.

Dave Martins came third with 70 net, beating Aaron Akaful on count-back, while Elias Kalai took the fifth position with 71 net. Mona Captain won the Ladies category with an impressive score of 67 net, Margaret Anderson came second with 69 net, Keen Aamoatt was third with 70 net while Beatrice Allotey placed fourth with 73 net. The one-day 18-Hole Stableford competition, which was sponsored by Mrs Clara Price, wife of the late Mr Price, attracted more than 100 golfers.

Mr Samuel Adetola, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club described the late Mr Price as a man whose ideas and contributions had made the club what it is today.

He charged the members to work hard so that they can win more members for the club.

Mrs Clara Price thanked the members and Somotex Ghana Limited for their contributions towards the events and asked them to keep it up.
