Agona Swedru (C/R), April 27, GNA - The Agona Swedru Magistrate Court has sentenced a 57-year old fishmonger based in Senya Bereaku to five years imprisonment in hard labour for abetment of crime and human trafficking.

Hannah Adjoa Anderson pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution, Assistant Superintendant of Police (ASP) Mr Offori Asante told the court presided over by Justice Madam Abigail A. Asare that the complainant of the case is Mr Stephen Addo of Challenging Height School in Winneba.

ASP Asante said on April 12, 2012, the victim Kwabena Neenyi, 12, was rescued along the Volta Lake and reunited with his family at Senya Bereaku.

He said Neenyi was enrolled in school under the care and supervision of Anderson his grandmother.

He said, on March, 10, this year a rescue team from Challenging Height School visited the school where Neenyi was enrolled and had information that he had been re-trafficked to Yeji.

The Prosecution said the matter was reported to the police and convict was arrested.

He said in her cautioned statement she admitted the offence and disclosed that she and three other persons now at large agreed to traffic the victim to Yeji.

The prosecution said, efforts are being made to apprehend her accomplishes.
