By FREE PRESS

Free Scouts in Gomoa district of the Central Region have confirmed that the district offices of the main opposition National Democratic Congress, (NDC) have been closed down and others turned into 'chop bars' and 'drinking spots'. Precisely one district office in the area of the incumbent NDC Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, Hon. Ama Benyiwah Doe has the NDC colours painted off to a different colour. Interestingly enough in some of the these bars, good foods such as fufu with Palm nut and pepper soup and bush meat popularity known as 'Akrantie' are served, while in others the locally manufactured drink, Akpeteshie and Alomo Bitters were being served. Some of the owner of the offices Free Press spoke to stated that the office has been closed down since the NDC party lost the 2000 elections, and also no rent has been paid to them for the past three years, hence the decision to revert them back to their rooms. According to them, the decision to take back their rooms which the NDC used as its party offices was not politically motivated, but they needed to do business in them which would generate income to them.

Even though Hon. Benyiwah Doe, who is affectionately called “iron lady, has announced her intention to retain her constituency seat for the fourth time, this paper can confirm that things would not be easy for Benyiwah Doe this time around.
