The journey to independence

When you know, understand and have it in mind that you have no helper than God and His Angels only, you will be very careful with your steps and make wiser decisions that will lead you to abundance.

I know two guys whose father died when they were kids; yet, they fought hard to finish high school and after completion of high school, they went into trading beginning with a tiny kiosk like hencoop; today, they own stores and a financial institution—they are living very well.

The question is, what made them great? Simply, they made wise efforts. They had it in mind that without they helping to further their lives, there is no one. This mindset did help them to walk through the storms and rain to become the people they envisioned becoming. When people know and understand that they have no help, they do help themselves.

Many African nations do mismanage what they have because they do have avenues of borrowing. What many often forget is, it is the borrowing to use in many none productive sectors that makes them slaves to the West. If borrowing leads to slavery, then where is the independence?

To become independent is very simple. Independence is a mindset each one of us need to have a pass it on. Independence must be a culture, not theory if we want a better future for our lives. In my view, these few ideas below may be of help to some extent.

1. Trust and have faith in God and understand that He has given you potentials, spiritual help, time and space to help you fulfil great purposes in life. Each one of us need to understand that we are not talented and skilled to fulfil a purpose, but purposes.

Aside, each of us need to have it in mind that, there is no any other human being more human than we are. We all have abilities and capabilities and need to tune our being to make them function. To invent an idea or machine is an ability given to all—we are equal though our potential functions may be different.

2. See yourself as Adam in the Garden of Eden—all are before you to initiate something good and great. God Almighty told Adam to name creation—that is a call to duty and responsibility.

By God giving Adam such duties, God indirectly was telling Adam to use his mind and potentials. Adam was made a leader and manager of the garden.

Similarly, you are a leader and a manager of your life and many circumstances. Besides, by God giving you such a task, you need to remember that you will account for the gifts given to you. The question is, what account will you give? Will you stand before God and tell him, “I stole from people and cheated them” or you will tell “I helped many and myself live better”?

3. Get knowledge and wisdom that will help you to do good and better things —seek to become extraordinary! This means, often and always think about “how to”.

Thinking about “how to” will make you to become creative genius in very many ways. This means, some of your thoughts should be to ask yourself and others questions like:

How can I do this or that?
How can I transform the lives of others and myself?

How can I go forward?
How can I reach these goals successfully, etc.?
One of the great truths I have discovered for myself is that, asking our self some questions lead to answers and awakening of our potentials. Remember, it was someone question that lead you to produce lots of theories in school.

Questions are problems. The moment problems come, the mind will think of producing answers. I therefore recommend that you often ask yourself questions, and you will find lots of keys to better life.

4. Make efforts. In making efforts, you will fall down, get knocked, get wounded, and may faint; yet, you need to be like a toddler learning to walk, and rise up again.

Remember, gold cannot glister until it is polished—wise efforts will finally lead you to greatness. The beginning of great things are often tough—life is not cheap and will never be cheap for many—making constant and consistent wise efforts are part of paying the costs.

Remember, you cannot eat most foods raw—most foods must be cooked. Similarly, your efforts are cooking what you want—keep on cooking until it is ready to eat.

Again, remember, it takes 9 good months for a woman to give birth to a child. The task is not an easy one, yet women do endure due to the end and obtain results.

Like a woman wanting a child, do not abort the good future—make sure you obtain it. This makes me to remember the founder of KFC who went to more than thousand people before he got an investor who said yes to his idea—persistence will pay off all your labor one day, so keep on going without looking back. Finally, remember that good and quality things will always cost you lots.

When things are not working in life, do not always see it as satanic blocks, nor attribute it to some witches as some people do. Am saying this because, there are many families in Africa today who are broke because of this wrong conception and beliefs. They always attribute every setback to the devil and his evil forces, instead of remembering that life is full of ups and downs that we may not understand why all things happen.

With this sort of belief in mind, many in such families do not makes efforts, and many of them who do make efforts often do stop along the way and miss their rewards of the future.

The sad story is, as new ones are born, this culture do enter into them and they also follow suit, so, what you will notice are generations and generations full of poverty.

For many of the people in such families who are believers in Christ, my message is “you are a new creature and creation”. You do not belong the old—you are redeemed, so no satanic force has power over your life.

This means, you need to renew your mind, thoughts and think new and be prayerful.

The freedom that The Lord gave man is complete and whole—you are an heir of the kingdom. Your father is the owner of the universe and the one who watched over you to be a human being from a sperm.

He is God, and you need to believe and trust Him and His Word, not some fallacies spoken by an old one who will soon die. Stop lying to lying to yourself with wrong theories and beliefs—they are your hindrance and not some demons.

Having understood this, have it in your psyche that there is no human being on earth who is more human than you—before God, we are all human beings with the same ability, although our abilities may not be equal. You are unique and special—embrace yourself deeply and run the race of life with boldness.

When God wanted to bless Abraham, He called him out of his own family to prosper him. This call is now to you—God has anointed me to call you to greatness now. This means, you need to be different and separate.

Look, if Esau, the man that Jacob jilted did succeed, you will succeed without any doubt.

To help you to become an overcomer of your circumstances and barriers, God has given you His Word, which are keys, guides and principles to help you.

Whenever challenges and even Satan come, we need to resist them and they will run away—be a resistor and you will be a great overcomer.

This makes me to remember the story of Jacob and how he fought with the angel and won. Jacob resisted and endured and when the angel who was from God saw that, the man can resist, he changed his name from Jacob to Israel.

The key that will change your position and lead you to progress is resistance—resist the barriers of progress and you will have open doors.

What you need to often remember is, the place where you need to fight the greatest fight is in your mind. The Apostle Paul, said that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers of darkness in higher places.

The word higher places has to do with the spiritual. If we are talking about spiritual, then we need to talk about the mind—the greatest battle is in your mind. So, if you can overcome in your mind, you will become an overcomer, and circumstances will salute you like a constable saluting a captain. Being a hero or a zero starts with your mind—so, check out your thoughts.

Africans are not supposed to stoop and beg. Africans are supposed to lend to nations. We need to break the old culture that has led us backward and embrace the culture that will lead and leap us forward.

You can be independent, and you already are independent from now—mind that liberty and think like that and act likewise, then pass it on.

That is God's desire for you, so get it now and be free from all forms of slavery. Shalom.
