Northern region registers 935,980 eligible voters

Tamale, April 13, GNA - The Northern region recorded a total 935,980 eligible voters at the close of the voter register replacement exercise last month, down from the existing roll of 962,926. Statistics made available to the GNA show that Tamale Central recorded the highest number of 71,453 eligible voters as against 84,215 previously, followed by Tamale North, which recorded 60,295, up from 48,316.

Tamale South recorded 58,361 as against 51,075 in the previous registration while Yendi recorded 33,111, down from 33,710. Yagba/Kubori and Nanton recorded the lowest of 11,777 and 15,820 respectively as against 14,962 and 16,664.

Others are Gushiegu/Karaga, 59,522, as against 59,881, Tolon/Kumbungu, 70,681 as against 72,693, Walewale, 39,172 as against 41,224, Nalerigu/Gambaga 39,406 as against 41,224 and Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo, 46,615 as against 47,544.

Bole/Bamboi registered 23,819 as against 26,590, Sawla-Kalba, 33,192 as against 37,274, Damongo/Daboya, 32,912 as against 37,274, Yapei/Kuswgu, 33,664 as against 32,265 and Salaga and Kpandai had 43,726 and 36,328 respectively as against 43,758 and 40,307.

The rest are Saboba/Chereponi, 43,691 as against 46,245, Wulensi 28,798 as against 28,599, Bimbilla, 47,317 as against 50,717, Zabzugu/Tatale, 38,649 as against 43,195 and Mion 33,731 as against 36,710.
