African countries urged not to rely on foreign aid

Cape Coast, April 12, GNA- Apostle Samuel Ofosu, Head of the Church of Pentecost Intenational, in Cape Coast has appealed to African countries to pool their resources to help each other instead of always looking up to developed countries for assistance.

He pointed out that the "culture" of relying on aid from abroad in times of difficulty, was an "affront to the dignity of Africans", and must be stopped.

Apostle Ofosu, was preaching at the end of a five-day convention of the church. The theme was: "Jesus, the saviour of the world- come and be blessed", at Cape Coast on Monday.

He called on Christians to lead lives worthy of emulation and eschew any act that has the tendency to plunge the nation into chaos and anarchy.

Apostle Fosu, who prayed for peaceful elections, urged the congregation to tolerate each other's views and contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of the nation.

Ms Christine Churcher, Minister of Basic, Secondary and Girl-child education, was the guest of honour and advised the worshippers to take good care of their children and ensure that they were well educated to enable them to become responsible citizens.

She advised them against the HIV/AIDS, which, she said is real and has no known cure, and called on the youth not to rush into early sex. There were foreign and local tourists at the Cape Coast Castle and some activities at the Elmina and Brenu Akyinmu beaches.
