Mfantseman District registers 8,698 eligible voters

Saltpond, April 11, GNA - Eighty six thousand six hundred and ninety-eight eligible voters registered in Mfantseman District in the recent voters registration exercise as against 94,345 as at the time of 2000 general elections.

Mr. John Mensah, District Electoral Officer, who disclosed this to the Mr. Mensah said the two registration centres at Mankessim round about recorded the highest number of voters. While centre A registered 1,414 voters as against 785 in the old register, centre B registered 1,203 as against 784.

He said Esiamotan in Taabosom electoral area registered 49 voters being the lowest in the district as against 98 registered in 2000. Mr. Mensah described the registration exercise as peaceful and orderly adding that only one registration was challenged on grounds that the person was not a Ghanaian.
