Unbeaten Lawson (21,0, 19 KOs) makes his US debut against Uganda born American, Mohammed Kayongo (17-3-1, 12 KOs) in a non title welterweight bout over eight rounds at The Myth, Maplewood, Minnesota, USA on March 22.
Not only will Lawson be seeking to preserve his own unbeaten record, the Ghanaian will also aim to halt a long list of losses by boxers from this country in foreign rings since the beginning of this year.

Okumka – Destined for the top
Samuel Kotey Neequaye, Sena Agbeko, Patrick Allotey among others have all lost unbeaten records in the past few weeks but Lawson is determined to stop the trend.
“I'm good, everything is alright and the conditions are good. I just thank God that I have a good coach training me,” Lawson told All Sports Ghana via phone from his Joliet, Illinois base.

“I need to be ready, it won't be easy. I have seen his (Kayongo) videos but we have prepared very well and I believe I will beat him. I am just starting a new life in America and I hope to win a title for Ghanaians within a year and half,” Frederick Lawson said.

He continued: “The only problem I'm having is just that it's a new weather and it's not easy when I'm running outside but I'm managing. It's something natural so you can't do anything about it.”
