Fireman in custody for allegedly assaulting his boss
Elmina, (C/R) April 7, GNA- A personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service, (GNFS) at Elmina, who allegedly locked up and beat his boss until he felt unconscious, was on Tuesday remanded in prison custody for a week, by a District Court at Elmina.
Joseph Frank Jones, 45, pleaded not guilty and he is to re-appear on Monday April 13.
Prosecuting, Chief inspector Keyward Adjei told the court that the complainant is the district officer in charge of the GNFS office at Elmina, while the accused works under him.
The prosecution said on March 5, this year, at about 0830 hours, the accused accompanied by two employees of the Komenda- Edina-Eguafo-Abrem district assembly, went to the complainant's office to resolve a dispute between the accused and his boss.
In their deliberations, a misunderstanding arose between the accused and the complainant and the meeting ended abruptly.
The two employees of the district assembly left, and Jones who was left in the room with his boss, allegedly became angry and accused his boss of being defiant to him.
The prosecution said the accused locked the door to his boss's office and beat him up until he became unconscious and left him to his fate. The complainant who regained consciousness later reported the matter to the district co-ordinating director and then the police.
