Lunatic assaults teacher

Ahomahomasu (E/R), April 6, GNA - A Teacher at the Ahomahomasu, Local Authority Junior Secondary School, Mr Maxwell Amankwa, escaped death when he was brutally assaulted by a madman in the town.

He was, however, treated and discharged at the Begoro District Hospital while the lunatic, known as Abraham, was arrested by the police at Begoro. The headmaster of the school, Mr George Agbenyo, said the behaviour of the madman had been a threat to pupils and teachers in the town, thereby affecting effective studies.

He expressed regret that despite several appeals to the Department of Social Welfare to keep the madmen away from the school, no action had been taken.
