Residents of Sekondi-Takoradi show massive support for President Kufuor

Takoradi, April 4, GNA-Residents of the twin-city of Sekondi-Takoradi went gay last Saturday evening when a milling crowd of the residents lined up the streets to cheer and mob President John Agyekum Kufuor.

President Kufuor was returning from Nkroful in the Nzema West District where he launched a 50 Billion Cedis Kwame Nkrumah Education Trust Fund (KNETFUND).

The Fund dedicated to Ghana's first President Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah was to promote education among the people of Nzema, Ghana and Africa. It would also provide financial and material assistance to needy but brilliant students from the area; promote female education and the study of science, Information, Communication and Technology (ICT).

The Fund, established by the Nzema Manle Traditional Council, is to be managed by a 13-Member Board of Trustees that was inaugurated at the function.

Riding in an open Pajero, President Kufuor responded to the spontaneous joyous mood of the people, while the security personnel had a hectic time to control the crowd that surged forward to catch a glimpse of President Kufuor.

At the market circle, the people shouted the New Patriotic Party (NPP) slogan and made the 'asieho' 'asieho' sign to indicate their support to him and the party.

The people lined up the streets to the residency where he was lodging.
