Nkawie Sec/Technical School builds new girls' dormitory

Nkawie (Ash), April 3, GNA - The Nkawie Secondary/Technical School is putting up a two-storey girls' dormitory valued at more than 875 million cedis as part of efforts to provide decent boarding facilities for the students.

More than 300 million cedis has so far been spent on the first phase of the project, Mr Prince Joseph Aguri-Amanfoh, headmaster of the school and Mr Baffour Asare-Bediako, chairman of the Board of Governors said during a tour of the site at Nkawie in the Atwima district on Thursday. They said a Senior Housemistress bungalow, which is attached to the girls' dormitory, has been completed at the cost of 90 million cedis.

Mr Aguri-Amanfoh said a fence wall had been constructed round the school at the cost of 66 million cedis to offer maximum security, safety and comfort to the girls. The projects, he said, were being financed from the school's own resources with support from the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and the school's technical department.

The PTA has donated restograph and photocopier machines valued at more than 70 million cedis to the school. The headmaster said Nana Twum Barima Apau II, Nkawiehene, has allocated about 12 hectares of land for the expansion of the school's infrastructure as part of plans to raise the status of the school to a first class second cycle institution. Mr Asare Bediako appealed to the PTA, individuals and other organisations to assist the school improve its water supply system and electricity.
