Abuakwa (Ash), April 1, GNA- The Abuakwa District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Akornor has ordered the arrest of one Kwaku Sarkodie, a 43-year old poultry farm labourer for defiling a 13-year-old girl.

Sarkodie was said to have taken advantage of the generosity of his friend who offered him accommodation in his house to defile his 13-year old sister.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the incident at Abuakwa on Tuesday, ASP Akornor said in November 2002, Sarkodie approached his friend Kwame Darko to help him with lodging facility in his house since he was facing accommodation difficulties.

The prosecution said Mr Darko agreed and gave his friend the room in which his (Darko's) sister was sleeping.

The District Police Commander said Sarkodie took advantage of the situation and had sex with the girl until she became pregnant. He said, the pregnancy was detected in February 2003 and Sarkodie was confronted and he admitted the offence. He consequently gave Darko two million cedis for the issue to be settled amicably. ASP Akornor said, however that, the police had information about the poor health of the girl and therefore ordered the arrest of Sarkodie.
