Communication giants, Vodafone Ghana, have once again gone to the aid of patients who could not afford the payment of their hospital bills.

The telecom operator, in the spirit of love for humanity, paid medical bills for over 180 patients across the country through its annual 'Valentine's Day homecoming' initiative on Friday, February 14, 2014.

Beneficiaries of this noble gesture included infants and the elderly who had spent days, weeks and in some cases months in hospitals like; Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, Winneba Municipal Hospital in Central region, Volta Regional Hospital and Tamale Teaching Hospital.

Anthony Sam, Head of Network Strategy, Vodafone Ghana, who led a team, including journalists to visit the hospitals, noted that it was joy for his company to come to the aid of the patients. He pledged the communication giant's continued support for the less privileged in our society.

The beneficiaries thanked Vodafone for the support. 'I thank Vodafone Ghana for taking me out of my predicament and sending me home, I really appreciate what Vodafone Ghana has done by rescuing and sending me home. I really appreciate what Vodafone has done for me,' were some of the comments from the beneficiaries.

A widow and mother of eight children, Akua Atta at Kwakyekrom in Obuasi of the Ashanti region, also said 'I thought I would be here forever, thank God I am going home to see my children. I pray for expansion of Vodafone's business so they can help more Ghanaians.'

The Vodafone homecoming is an annual event where the company shows love by paying the medical bills of insolvent patients who have been kept in hospitals because they are not able to pay for their medical bills.
