Apam (C/R), March 27, GNA - The Gomoa West constituency Women's Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Miss Grace Okoe, has urged polling station executives of the party to embark on a mopping up exercise to ensure that all eligible Ghanaians in those areas register by the close of the exercise.

Miss Okoe, popularly called Santana, said the voter registration exercise was so crucial to the nation's democratic dispensation that nothing should be left to chance in ensuring its success.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Apam after a visit to some of the registration centres, Miss Okoe expressed satisfaction at the orderly manner the exercise was being conducted in the area but said though turn-out was encouraging, political parties needed to comb houses to ensure that all eligible voters register.

Touching on an alleged planned demonstration by a section of the supporters of NPP over a delay in holding the constituency primaries, she appealed to the party's activists to exercise restraint whilst the leadership put things in order for the conduct of the primaries. She blamed some of the supporters for the delay saying that their behaviour and utterances have created an impression that there was tension in the constituency.

Miss Okoe appealed to the Central Regional Executives of the NPP to fix a date for the conduct of the primaries as soon as the voter registration exercise is over.

Four people are contesting the primaries in the constituency. 27 Mar. 04
