Accra bourse makes slight gains

Accra, March 26, GNA - The GSE - All Share Index, the key stock gauge gained 16.94 points in Friday trading, the least in recent weeks, to push it to 5,552.92. It had gained 96.15 points on the back of impressive gains by 10 equities on the bourse on Wednesday.

However, in Friday trading only seven equities had price appreciation on the broader markets, with Home Finance Company (HFC) leading the pack with 201 cedis gain to end trading at 9,001 cedis. Mechanical Lloyd Company (MLC) gained 135 cedis to continue its rise at 1,525 cedis while Aluworks gained 100 cedis at 8,600 cedis. SSB Bank gained 68 cedis to end trading at 25,100 cedis; Unilever (UNIL) and British America Tobacco (BAT) gained 50 cedis each to close at 18,050 cedis and 6,500 cedis, respectively.

Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), which held its Annual General Meeting on Friday, gained 10 cedis to end trading at 15,110 cedis. MLC sold 140,800 shares out of a total 176,000 shares that changed hands. Seven other equities made up the difference.

Market capitalisation went up to 17,667.26 billion cedis for 3,077.07 million issued shares from 17,624.47 billion cedis for the same number of shares on Wednesday.
