Accra, March 24, GNA - The Electoral Commission (EC) on Wednesday announced that it has officially put into circulation old registration forms and the public should, therefore regard them as genuine.
The EC said the old forms, which were leftover after the last registration exercise were being used because of the reported shortage of the new forms in parts of the country, especially the Greater-Accra Region.
A statement issued by the EC in Accra and signed by Henry W. Okyne, Director of Public Affairs of the Commission, said those who would be registered with them would in no way be disenfranchised.
The Commission warned that it was an offence for any registration official to refuse or prevent any eligible voter from registering. It further warned that it was an offence for anyone, who was not authorised to seize or be in possession of any of the registration materials, especially the registration forms.
The EC stated that an official or any person, who doubted the eligibility of person registering should avail him or herself of the process of challenging the applicant by completing the challenge form for the case to be determined by a District Registration Review Committee.
The Commission appealed to all Ghanaians to cooperate with it to ensure sanity at the registration centres and to make the exercise a success.
