Supreme Head of Ahmadiyya commends government

Kumasi, March 21, GNA - Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad Khalifatal Masih, Supreme Head of the World-wide Ahmadiyya Movement, has commended the government for executing projects in the country's educational institutions including those established by religious bodies.

He said such an initiative practically demonstrated the government's determination to collaborate with religious organisations to make quality education more accessible to all Ghanaians, irrespective of their faith and social standing.

Masih made the commendation when he paid a one- day visit to the kumasi T.I. Ahmadiyya Secondary School (AMASS) on Saturday in Kumasi to ascertain at first hand development and challenges of the school. The Supreme Head of the Ahmadiyya Movement also inspected various educational facilities and a number of on-going works, including the three-storey science laboratory block project, being financed under the GETfund.

Masih said the Ahmadiyya Movement would collaborate with the government to ensure the development of education in the country. He paid tribute to the founding fathers of AMASS, lauded the ingenuity of the Headmaster and staff of the school and said their sacrifices had helped to make the school one of the best in the country.

Mr Yusif Kwabena Agyare, Headmaster, said he was happy that the Supreme Head had visisted the school to acquaint himself with the progress and problems there.

Mr Agyare requested Masih to sustain the gesture saying "regular visits of this nature could serve as a catalyst that will encourage staff and students to give of their best in their various endeavours". The headmaster said the Supreme Head was a development-oriented person, who assisted AMASS with about 15 million cedis for renovation of the school mosque.

The school authorities and Old students of AMASS later presented a variety of parcels to the Supreme Head of the Ahmadiyya Movement. 21 March 04
