Koforidua, Oct. 21, GNA - Most Reverend Professor Emmanuel. K. Asante, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, has called for peace in the New Juaben Traditional Area.

Bishop Asante, who is also the President of the Peace Council, made the appeal at the induction service for Lay Chairmen of seven Diocese of the Methodist Church at Koforidua on Sunday.

The Diocesan Lay Chairmen are the next to the Bishops in the Diocese.

The lay chairmen inducted into office are Prof john Andoh Micah of Cape Coast Diocese, Mr Solomon Quaye Lartey of the Accra Diocese, Mr Samuel Arthur of the Sekondi Diocese, Mr Robert Andrew Ghanney of the Winneba Diocese, Ms Leonie Florence Gyebi-Twum of the Koforidua Diocese, Mr Johnson Yeboah Gyekye of the Akyem Oda Diocese and Mr Ebenezer Haizel of the Tema Diocese of the Church.

Bishop Asante explained that, the church is not like a football match where only 11 players of the team on the field shoulders all the responsibility for the victory of the team but the collective efforts of all members of the church are needed.

He appealed to the new Lay Chairmen to use their individual professions and skills to support the growth of the church.
