Birim South District, Obirimpong Sintim Poku ,III, has urged his people, especially non-residents, to endeavour to register as voters in the town when the voters register is re-opened next month.

Speaking at a public forum, at Akim Manso on Wednesday to plan development for the town, Obrempong Sintim Poku, reminded his people that population size was among the important criteria used in considering the location of development projects in an area.

He, however, cautioned them not to indulge in multiple registration or encourage the under-aged as well as aliens to register, saying such electoral malpractices are punishable by law.

On the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the chief said it had come to replace the "cash and carry" system and urged them to embrace it and to be prepared to pay their premium when the time comes. Obrempong Sintim Poku, who is also the Benkumhene of the Akim Kotoku Traditional Area, appealed to leaders of political parties to conduct their electioneering campaign in the run-up to the December polls in a manner that would not disturb the peace in the society. He also called on hosts of radio programmes on FM stations, to educate their callers not to use inflammatory remarks that are capable of inciting violence against their perceived political opponents.
