NPP GERMANY GOES TO CONGRESS
15.10.2013 LISTEN

The Germany Branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will hold its congress in the central German city of Essen on January 11 2014 to elect new executives to lead the party for the next four years.

The decision to change the date for the congress which was initially scheduled for February 15 2014, has become necessary following the election timetable and guidelines issued by the national executive committee in Accra requiring all external branches to conduct elections before January 15 2014.

To this end a three-member election committee composed of Mr Charles Ankamah, Mr Charles Gyimah and Mr Baffour Amo has been tasked with the duties of receiving nominations, vetting candidates and supervising the elections.

Nomination for the various positions has opened and is expected to close at 5 pm 31 October 2013, while vetting will take place in the mid- November 2013.

All prospective candidates are to note that certain basic requirements are to be fulfilled before one can contest for any position in the party. These include, a minimum of two years of continues membership, the payment of all dues, regular attendance of meetings and the active participation in other activities organised by the party either at the chapter(local) or national level.

Eligibility to vote is contingent upon at least one year-membership of the party, the payment of dues and active participation in the activities of the party at the chapter (local) level.

In view of the enormity of the task ahead, all aspiring candidates are advised to inform and familiarise themselves with the party structures, internal workings and governance of the party before the vetting.
