The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sunyani, Mr Kwasi Oppong Ababio, who announced this said the exercise would be carried out without any political colouration.

Addressing a durbar of chiefs, queens and the people of the Sunyani traditional area last Sunday, Mr Ababio advised owners of such illegally constructed buildings, kiosks and other structures to start pulling down their own houses and make-shift structures or risk not receiving any compensation of any kind when the assembly undertakes the exercise.

The durbar, which was on the theme, 'Positioning Sunyani as a modern city of Ghana', was to climax a month-long MTN organised cultural programme, dubbed Sunyani City Festival (Suncity Fest, 2013).

According to the MCE, 'such buildings are spoiling the beauty of Sunyani, thereby depriving it of the accolade that, Sunyani is the cleanest city in Ghana. We shall defy all odds to maintain such a status, devoid of politics'.

The Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr Justice Samuel Adjei, appealed to the chiefs to offer their unflinching support to the assembly.

He also called on the public to co-operate with the local authorities to clean the municipality.

`The General Manager for the Northern Business District of MTN, Mr James Bukari Basintale, said the company had been witnessing some challenges that had been affecting the delivery of quality network services, such as fibre cuts mostly due to construction works, intermittent power outages and permit issues.

Those challenges, he observed, had resulted in the interruption of quality service delivery to customers and, therefore, appealed to the government and other opinion leaders to join in educating the public to ensure uninterrupted quality service provision.

The Omanhene of the Sunyani Traditional Area, Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri III, appealed to the municipal assembly to ensure a decent development plan for the municipality.
