Tema, February 7, GNA- Godsway Taysuka, a 20-year old apprentice mechanic who defiled and impregnated a 15-year-old girl and later attempted to abort the pregnancy on Friday appeared before a Tema Circuit court.

He pleaded guilty to defilement but not guilty to attempted abortion and was remanded until March nine.

Taysuka explained that he accepted responsibility of the pregnancy and never attempted to use concoctions to have it aborted adding that when they first met as lovers the girl told him she was 19 years and not 15, as claimed by the prosecution.

Police Chief Inspector Mary Assunta, told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu, that on January 29 this year, Mr Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo, the man with whom the girl was staying in Tema detected the pregnancy and when he asked the girl she mentioned the accused person as the one responsible for it.

The prosecution said when the accused person noticed that the girl was pregnant he administered some concoctions and gave it to her to terminate it but she refused.

The prosecutor said the complainant reported the matter to the police.
