Sonetco Institute's Women wing will want to add their voice to the condemnation of the barbaric act that took place at the Orphanage home at Jamaicaso in Aburi, as well as a robbery activity at Little acre some few weeks ago.
We all know one thing for a fact that, our people from the Akuapim ridge are touted to be peace loving people and such act is just a dirt on this hard won reputation.
The rape case is an affront insult to womanhood, especially to a woman who has dedicated her life to serve the vulnerable in that township. She deserves better reward than this barbaric act.
The issue of rape need not to be seen as an "ordinary or normal" happening because such an act could have a long term negative effect on the victims. Many innocent woman have contracted various kinds of diseases due to such rape. Many other women have never remained the same after suffering such cruel ordeal.
We crave the indulgence of the security apparatus and the citizenry of Aburi to cooperate to bring these rapist to book. They must be made to face the full rigors of the law. We use this opportunity to encourage the entire Akuapems to guard their peace loving reputation.
The women's wing in Sonetco Institute therefore urges the government to intensify its protection for the ordinary citizens especially women and children. We also call on Nana Oye Lithur to up her effort on this case, just as we call on the security instrument of the state to bring this culprits to book.
