August 16th and 17th were epic days in the city of Toronto for Ghanaians and people of Ghanaian decent. Ghana Fest 2013 was held once again at the earl Bales Park. The August 16th event was a cataclysmic Hi Life concert featuring Kwabena Kwabena and Canadian high life and hip life musician at the Luna Ball room. A special surprise of the night was with Samini. The pair performed Adult Music to the delight of all that were present.

The 17th of August at Earl Bales Park was a family oriented picnic, attending were the different Ghanaian Canadian cultural associations and other nationalities. The Zukerman Amphitheater stage was an epitome of Ghanaian Cultural Heritage show with the durbar of chiefs of the Etumtumfo, Ga adangme and Ewes, and other cultural performances, poetry and spoken word, and a tribute to Nana Dogo. Attending was Mr. and Mrs. Judy Sgro, Ghanaian high commissioner Hon Akyianu and H.E Kojo Mawutor, and other community leaders. Community awards were awarded to Agnes Summers popularly known as Makola of Makola Tropical foods. She was awarded for her continual community support. Judy Sgro was given an honorary Ghanaian citizenship award and thanked for her continual support of the Ghanaian Canadian community.
