A GH¢14-million hostel has been inaugurated on the Dansoman Campus of the Methodist University College (MUCG) in Accra.
Construction of the facility was financed by UT Bank and other private equities. It has, among others, a clinic, a bookshop, a video games centre and a gymnasium.
The Moderator of the Methodist Church of Ghana, Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel K. Asante, who dedicated the building, advised students to reciprocate the investments their parents were making in them by studying hard.
The Very Rev. Prof. Samuel K. Adjepong, Principal of the MUCG, said the building of the hostel was in line with the university's vision of attaining a one-stop academic centre of excellence for its students.
He also said it would help the university to increase its intake of students, particularly at this time when two batches of SHS leavers would be entering tertiary institutions to further their studies.
The Deputy Managing Director of UT Bank, Mrs Pearl Esua-Mensah, said the bank was impressed that the hostel was constructed within a limited time frame.
