The electoral commission in Zimbabwe has for the first time acknowledged serious mistakes in last week's elections.

It said around three hundred thousand voters were turned away from polling stations. It also described about two hundred thousand people as assisted voters, meaning they were influenced in their choice of candidates. However it said the mistakes were not enough to prevent victory for President Robert Mugabe
