Irate NDC youth protest DCE's re-nomination
The youth, who numbered about 30, set fire to a computer, furniture and documents in the office to express their anger.
On July 23, there was an announcement that six municipal and district chief executives in the Ashanti Region, including Mr Prempeh, had been dismissed from office.
It, therefore, came as a surprise to the youth that someone who had just been dismissed could be re-nominated few days later.
The rest of the dismissed DCEs were Amansie Central MCE, Robert Fokuo; Bekwai MCE, Noah Asante Manu, Atwima Mponua, Theresa Adomako; Ejura Sekyeredumasi, Martha Bucknor; and Atwima Kwanwoma, Tony Nyame.
The re-nomination, according to an eye witness, did not please the youth of the party due to the fact that the DCE failed to work to meet the expectation of the people of the district, especially party members.
When the Daily Graphic contacted the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Yaw Obeng Asubonteng, District Police Commander for Amansie West, he confirmed the story and said no arrest had so far been made yet.
He said although he had personally visited the scene of the incident, no one had made any official complaint to the police yet.
DSP Asubonteng, however, said there was peace in the district capital and all communities, and his men were ready to face any group that would attempt to disturb the peace in the area.
