Mining Industry Players To Storm 6th WaCA Summit

Mining sector companies are completing their participation arrangements for the annual extractive industry gathering known as the 6 th WaCA Mining Summit & Expo 2013, the West and Central African region's premier mining event to be held on September 17-18 at the Accra International Conference Centre in Ghana.

John Kwofie, SRK Consulting's Country Manager for Ghana, said: 'The conference will offer us the opportunity to showcase SRK's expertise and presence in the sub-region to world-class mining companies, as well as provide us with a valuable networking platform.

'We hope to generate additional consulting work in the geotechnical, water, environmental and social areas of expertise to be found in both our Accra and Cameroon offices. There is a tremendous amount of mining activity in West Africa and we look forward to further establishing our African footprint in the region.'

Eduan Pieterse of VBKom's Project Support Services added: 'Infrastructure investment & regulatory stability will be the key to unlocking Africa's mineral wealth.

'We are looking forward to the WaCA Mining Conference to network with the industry role players and showcase VBKom's contribution towards moving mine planning and investment forward.'

The industry players are looking forward to the 2013 Summit's exhibition, the WaCA Mining Expo, which has been rapidly growing to be the Series' largest to-date with direct participation from the global mining industry's major countries such as Australia, Canada, South Africa, France, USA, India, Denmark, Finland and the Netherlands.

Ibrahim Baderi, Foraco's Vice President for Africa, said: 'Foraco, a global provider of drilling services to the mining industry and water supply in Africa, is pleased to participate in WaCA Mining 2013.  Our equipment includes high-tech drilling rigs offering reliability, performance and safety.'

The 2013 Exhibition participants include: Shell, Engen, GEA Process Engineering, AGS Frasers Ghana, ECE Cogemacoustics, Snowden, Wear Check Africa, E-Global Drilling Corporation, and Major Drilling Group and it is being sponsored by 888 Investment Group.

The WaCA Mining will also see strong ministerial representations from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic & Mauritania.

The 2013 Summit is endorsed by the Ghana's Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources (MLNR), the Ghana Minerals Commission (MC), the Botswana Chamber of Mines (BCM), the Liberia Chamber of Commerce (LCC), the Geological Society of Africa (GSAf) and the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE).
