The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has called on the Ghana Education Service to speed up the payment of arrears to teachers who have been promoted and salaries of newly recruited teachers.

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of NAGRAT, Mr Patrick Agboyibor,  who made the appeal, said since 2011, most teachers who had been promoted had not been placed on their new scales, hence their arrears.

He made the appeal at a two-day seminar organised by the Greater Accra Regional branch of NAGRAT, on promotion interviews for graduate teachers.

Mr Agboyibor added that some new teachers who had been recruited since 2011, had not received their salaries.

'Though some have been paid, majority of the teachers have still not received their salaries and arrears due to the slow processes,' he stated.
