A Call To The Youth Of Ghana

Feature Article A Call To The Youth Of Ghana
JUL 15, 2013 LISTEN

Ghanaian youth, the danger looming over the current and future peace, security, stability, progress, and prosperity of our nation does not require the interpretation of any prophet. The reality of a mess of a nation, created by all of us, both old and young, stares us harshly in the face. Candidly put, we have been given a raw and bad deal by the older generation, most especially the political class, public servants, and state institutions.

A woeful failure that never adequately prepared us for, nor facilitated our proper positioning to play the 21st century global game. Mega transformation should have been the game, but as we all know, we are today licking the stinking wounds of shattered dreams, dashed hope, and shot down aspirations.

Litigation of the past and what has gone wasted through lack of ambitious visions, bad leadership, poor management, timidity and mediocrity, insatiable greed and the inhuman looting of the sweating tax payers money paid to the state in earnest expectation of revolutionary globally-competitive-development, the long stretch of hoax political promises, and the senseless, illogical over-zealous political rivalry as well as excessive partisanship, is time consuming and a fruitless venture that will send us deeper down the thorny path of self-destruction, national irrelevance, and eventual decimation.

It is very evident in this situation that we are logically the highly aspirational and energized occupational force, duty bound to break out of this wilderness of failure to dominate the era of promise.

An occupational force is characterized by big imagination, intimidating dare, boldness, extra-ordinary courage, super determination, tightly-knitted collaboration, big sacrifices, sharp focus with point-on precision, big, futuristic, active, creative and strategic thinking, brilliant organization, self motivation, hard, efficient and effective work, stimulation into action, real action, and crown achievements.

It is nation do or die affair with no place for babyish games, baby sitting, immaturity, mediocrity, chicken hearted spiritedness, timidity, fear, jokes, hypocrisy, laziness, bickering and complaining, sabotage and undermining, deception and dishonesty, thievery and corruption, division and lawlessness, time wasting, irresponsibility, distractions, cheap talk and inaction.

Bluntly speaking, a large chunk of you the youth, are deeply sleeping in a child's world, wallowing in the club of lazy, looser, self pity mindsets, cut in the mold of the older generation, lack focus, distant from reality, dishonest, dangerously corrupt, relevant knowledge bereft, confused, and more.

Sure, I state this candidly as your leader who has and will, as long as god wills, be out there fighting with you to build this promise nation called the new Ghana. Let us not fail a second time as a nation, a bitter repeat of history. We must wake up, move out of all old molds irrelevant to our cause, break out of any bondage situation, break away from the past, arise, and get into action now. Yes we can!!!
