Lesedi foundation donates house to a blind leper

Lesedi foundation, a non-profit organisation has donated one bedroom house at the cost of Ghc 20,000 to Maame Maku Amanor, a leper and blind woman at Sekesua in the Eastern Region.

The foundation also provided her a bed and a mattress as well as other household items, including food and drinks.

Before the donation, Maame Amanor, aged 85 was living in a structure made of iron sheets with palm fronts as her roof and a chair as her bed.

At a ceremony to hand over the house, Mrs. Josephine Ami-Narh, lead organiser of Lesedi foundation said the organisation was set up to contribute to the positive transformation of the lives of the poor and less privileged in the society.

She recalled that during the Easter ceremony in March this year, members of the foundation visited the Sekesua community to fete the residents and they noticed the plight of Maame Amanor.

“The foundation therefore decided to build a house for her and through the help of I.K. Hayford construction in Tema; we have been able to build a one bedroom house with a porch for Maame Amanor including other household items to put a smile on her face”, Mrs Ami-Narh said.

Maame Maku Amanor, who was elated by the donation, thanked members of the foundation and asked for God blessings for them.

The Lesedi Foundation organises activities in deprived communities such as giving out free clothing and household items, free health screening, provision of food, drinks and motivational speeches.
