CONTROVERSIES SURROUNDING recent remarks by the former CEO of the Volta River Authority (VRA), Dr. Wereko Brobbey, concerning the performance of Dr. Bawumia in the ongoing presidential petition hearing appear to be dying out, but it certainly would not have ended without a mention the firebrand member of the opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP), Hon. Ohene Kennedy Agyapong.
The Assin North MP finally waded into the brouhaha yesterday when he described the former VRA Boss as a dead meat, who does not merit an attention from the party. The outspoken NPP legislator, who has gained political notoriety for his candidness, stated emphatically that the party ought not to have wasted its time on someone like Dr. Wereko Brobbey, who no longer carries any weight in the party.
'Who is that Wereko Brobbey, that dead meat, massa, he is no longer relevant to the NPP and we must not focus our energy on him, I don't know how he was invited to the Disciplinary Committee but for me I don't recognize him,' Hon. Kennedy Agyapong told host of Hello FM Breakfast show, King Edward.
The Assin North MP noted that the former VRA Boss behaves as if he is the only wise person in the country, when in actual fact he is the one who has lost touch with the realities in the current political dispensation.
According to him, lots of people who doubted the credibility of the NPP claims when the party decided to challenge the results have now come to accept the realities, after months of the Supreme Court hearing and wondered if Dr. Wereko Brobbey has been following the proceedings critically in the court.
The former VRA Boss came under intense criticism from the opposition party after his unsavoury comments about the 2012 presidential running mate of the NPP concerning his performance during cross examination at the Supreme Court.
Dr. Wereko Brobbey described Dr. Bawumia's performance as clueless compared to that of the General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.
Though he has since render an unqualified apology to the NPP running mate, he still maintains his position generally on the decision by the party to challenge the results at the Supreme Court.
The Assin North MP further touched on last week's verdict of the Supreme Court in the case filed by the former Attorney General, Mr. Martin Amidu against Waterville Holdings and said he was disappointed in the Parliament of Ghana for failing to protect and scrutinize public accounts.
Hon. Kennedy Agyapong was worried that Parliament has not been able to adequately peruse public spending, including failing to work on Auditor's General Report since 2011 which is still before the house.
The NPP Legislator, who led the crusade that uncovered several alleged malpractices on the part of Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome, also blasted the house for having someone like Hon.Barton Odro, as its Deputy Speaker.
'If it were to be in another country, Ebo Barton Odro should not have still been at post; he should have resigned or be sacked,' he added.
