The New Patriotic Party has stated that the apology its suspended stalwart Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby has made to the party's 2012 running mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is in the right direction.

Deputy Communications Director of the party, Perry Okudzeto told the media Tarzan, as he is affectionately called, has showed remorse for calling Dr Bawumia names, and also acknowledged his insincerity.

“It is a step in right direction. It signifies that he has realised his phoney and therefore if he finds it wise enough to apologize to the vice presidential candidate and the star witness of the party, so be it.”

Dr. Wereko-Brobby made unsavory comments about the party's principal witness in the ongoing election petition hearing at the Supreme Court. He accused Dr Bawumia of putting up a “clueless” show when he mounted the witness box.

Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby appeared before the party's disciplinary committee Friday over his conduct and comments.

Scores of party supporters gathered at the party's headquarters vented their spleen on him over his comments.

Perry Okudzeto insisted that though the party has recognized the fact that he has apologised to the man in question, there are more issues to be dealt with so far as Tarzan is concerned.

He told Myjoyonline.com after the committee has finished its work, it will write a formal report to the National Executive Committee for further action to be taken against Dr. Wereko-Brobby.
